Sorry molly

There is sorry and there is sorry. The meaning of sorry from the dictionary means conveying apology for one's sins and misdeed. Sorry has to be the most miss - use word in modern world. Nowadays sorry is basically for

"Sorry, can you repeat that?"

"Sorry, sorry, please let me pass?"

"Sorry, you were saying?"
"Sorry,..."

Sorry has become a substitute for politeness. The use of sorry is so deviated that it has lost its true meaning. Nowadays when I tell people I am sorry, I feel the words 'sorry' is no longer able to carry the magnitude of my apology nor the sincerity of my will to repent. Take for example, the occupation joke that turn sour. Although I had wrote a lengthy mail to apologize, I still have the feeling I didn't apologize enough. Even though my friend had forgiven me, I still had not forgiven myself.

Therefore, for a food lover like me, humble pie is really not something I care to eat. For example some months ago, I pull a prank on a friend which I thought was playful but in fact was regarded as an invasion of privacy. Despite apologizing profusely, I still feel a bit jumpy around her.

What irritates me most is some people take 'sorry' like some license to be forgiven. They utter it frequently and generously. They w.h.o.r.e.d 'sorry' until its cheap and valueless. Now I feel inadequate just telling people I am sorry. I have eat a dozen humble pies in hope I had portray enough sorriness in my 'sorry... '

Probably now I need to bow all the way to the ground when I apologize..Crap....

Personally, I wonder when "excuse me" became code for "I am about to interrupt you".
